Description
We’re excited to share our latest biodiverse and socially impactful project! We’ve acquired 188 hectares of abandoned land in the village of Cidadelhe in Portugal. With 51 hectares dedicated to agroforestry and the remaining 137 hectares afforested to make the whole region more climate-resilient and ensure long-term carbon storage.
By purchasing our high-quality carbon credits, you can help combat desertification, promote environmental regeneration, and support employment opportunities for the residents of Cidadelhe. Join us in our mission to create a more biodiverse future while supporting rural communities. Buy our carbon credits today and make a positive impact on both the environment and society!
Afforestation is the climate friendliest way to sequester CO2, with high levels of CO2 sequestration and oxygen production. Combining it with Regenerative Agroforestry creates numerous benefits in food production and nature conservation. Both rapidly sequesters carbon in biomass and the soil.
Afforestation creates water, holds water in the soil, prevents erosion and regenerates the soil. Adding regenerative agroforestry also provides food and more jobs. Trees only have to be planted once for the next 60 to 400 years. If we make sure some of these trees provide food and other benefits we can afford to maintain our role as caretakers of this land for generations.
Scave’s carbon strategy is based on the syntropic agroforestry. The soil of the Portugal sites has a high potential for storing carbon. The baseline data of the soil points out that at start it had a low amount of Carbon.
What makes this site unique is that on the Iberian Peninsula we are fighting desertification and so far the desert is winning. We’re working every day to make our little part of the frontier against this process survive. Buying our carbon removal credits will allow us to scale and continue this work.

About The Remover
The carbon is removed by Scave.World (Scave.world B.V), with head office in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
Scave.world is in the business of installing and operating reforestation and agroforestry projects in Europe, as well as selling the nuts, grains, and legumes that are produced by these systems. The consumption of nuts across the globe is on the rise.

Additional Benefits
- Agroforestry holds water and makes the earth more resistant to floods and droughts.
- The growth of biodiversity contributes to healthier soil and nutritious food production
- Jobs generation in rural destinations reversing migration towards the city
- Combining trees, crops, and livestock can increase output by a factor of 1,3-6x.
- Enhanced crop system design reduces reliance on fertilizers.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- SDG2- Zero Hunger
Our agroforestry model allows a 40% production increase on the same hectare of land. And all the food is for human consumption. This will allow us to go from barely feeding 8 billion humans to 10 billion with lots of room to spare. We use a variety of nut trees in multilayered strips intercropped with a mix of annual grains and legumes. - SDG8-Decent work and economic growth
At Scave.World, we believe that the cultivation of diverse agroforestry systems, can revitalize degraded land and stimulate local economies. By implementing regenerative practices, we aim to create healthy, productive ecosystems that support biodiversity, mitigate climate change, and promote soil health. Our focus on economic viability and scalability empowers locals to transition towards sustainable, profitable agriculture and generate employment opportunities that attract young people back to their communities.
- SDG13- Climate Action
Life is a beautiful, complex, optimized carbon sink. Promoting life by running scalable farms in 4 dimensions, we use the power of nature to remove carbon from the atmosphere and put it back to good use. Not only does this create more life by creating numerous new habitats, it also buffers and recycles water, cleans the air, and reduces erosion from rain and wind. It is the most cost-efficient and win-win-win-win way of storing carbon. - SDG 15- Life on Land
Our company was founded on the principle of bringing life back to as much of our degraded farmland as possible. By promoting regenerative agriculture and agroforestry practices that help restore degraded land and enhance biodiversity. By converting agricultural land into food-producing carbon sinks, Scave.world is able to store carbon and restore soil health, which in turn supports the growth of diverse plant and animal life. This approach not only contributes to the preservation of terrestrial ecosystems but also provides a sustainable source of food, fuel, and fiber, thereby promoting economic and social well-being. - SDG 17 Partnership for the goals
We partner with international research institutes, knowledge partners all the way to local stores that align with our vision of a local biodiverse regenerating economy.
